Ensure implementation of SC order on fire crackers on New Year: CPCB to Delhi police

The Central Pollution Control Board has directed the Delhi Police to ensure the apex court order on burning fire crackers on New Year is complied with. In a notice earlier this week, CPCB Chairperson S P Singh Parihar asked the police commissioner to ensure the court order on burning green fire crackers for a stipulated period of two hours is complied with.

High level of heavy metals found in urine samples post-Diwali: CPCB

High level of heavy metals, including lead, was found in urine samples of many patients due to direct or indirect exposure to firecrackers post-Diwali last year, according to CPCB. According to a study conducted by Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health in 2017, on direction of the CPCB, there was excessive watering, redness and burning sensation in the eyes post-Diwali among the sample groups.

Oil Companies Fined Rs.1Cr For Not Complying With Anti-Pollution Norms

The Central Pollution Control Board has fined Rs.1-crore each on three oil companies for their failure to install anti-pollution "vapour recovery" systems at fuel stations. The fine has been slapped on public sector oil firms BPCL, HPCL and IOC. Vapour recovery device is an instrument to capture displaced vapours that emerge from inside a vehicle's fuel tank while filling petrol or diesel in it.
