Chandrayaan-2 Successfully Raises Orbit Around Earth For 2nd Time: ISRO

India's ambitious second lunar mission Chandrayaan-2 has successfully raised its orbit around the Earth for the second time early on Friday, taking the spacecraft one step closer to the Moon, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said. The 15-minute Earth-bound manoeuvre was carried out at 1.08 am using the spacecraft's on-board propulsion system, the space agency said in a statement.

Former Defence Research and Development Organisation's director of public interface, Ravi Gupta, said the decision to call off Monday's launch of the second lunar mission Chandrayaan-2, was done at the right time before the occurrence of any big mishap. An hour before the lift-off, the ISRO announced that the launch of the moon mission had been called off due to a technical snag.
