CAs across India request Modi govt to rein in tax officials

Chartered accountants across the country have requested the PM's office and the FM to rein in tax-officials who have been directed to take "all possible actions" to recover tax amid a shortfall in revenue collection. On March-26, CBDT, the apex-body, issued instructions to all principal CITs across the country to take "all possible-action" immediately to boost the collection of direct-taxes, including recovery of arrears.
Over 16.7 lakh DINs deactivated for non-compliance with KYC requirements

The government deactivated DINs of more than 16.7L individuals till end of November, as they failed to comply with KYC requirements. Individuals having DINs are required to submit KYC details in electronic format under the Companies Act. "As on November-30, 2018, 16,71,167 DIN holders were deactivated due to non-filing of KYC," Corporate Affairs Minister Arun Jaitley said in a-written-reply to Lok Sabha on December-21.

City boy Aagam Dalal came second in the finals exam of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (old course) held in May 2018, according to sources in Ahmedabad branch of ICAI. Another city lad, Sagar-Shah, came second in finals for a new course of CA, again held in May 2018. Students from Ahmedabad region bagged 10 positions in top-50 in the nation for old-course.
