Chhatrapati Shivaji statue in sea to cost Maha exchequer Rs 3643.78 cr

The upcoming statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Arabian Sea off the Mumbai coast is likely to cost the Maharashtra exchequer around Rs.3,643 crore. The construction would cost Rs.2,581 crore, while Rs.309 crore would be the GST on the amount. Since 2013, Rs.36 crore has already been spent on the project, including Rs.8 crore on the stone-laying ceremony in 2016.

Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport was renamed as Chhatrapati Shivaji 'Maharaj' International Airport. "Congratulations to the people of Maharashtra, the long pending demand is now fulfilled," said Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Civil Aviation. The request was initially made by BJP MP Sambhaji Raje Chhatrapati, who is also the 13th descendant of the Maratha warrior king.
Riteish apologises for hurting sentiments of Shivaji's followers

Bollywood actor-producer Riteish Deshmukh left followers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj upset by posting a photograph of himself in front of the Maratha warriors statue at the Raigad Fort. He later apologised for hurting people's sentiments. "We had no intention to hurt anyone by sitting there or clicking those photos. But if someone is hurt by our act, we expressed heartfelt apologies," Riteish added.
