Kumaraswamy announces Rs 200 crore aid for flood relief work in K'taka

Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Thursday announced a grant-in-aid of Rs 200 crore for relief work in districts hit by floods and landslides in the State due to incessant rains. He was speaking to reporters after reviewing the situation in the rain-affected districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkmagaluru, Kodagu and parts of Hassan and Uttara Kannada.
Ivory smuggling racket busted in Karnataka, 3 men arrested

An undercover operation by officers of the Karnataka Forest Department busted a massive ivory smuggling racket. Range Forest Officer of Chikkamagaluru's Lakkavalli Range, Kantharaju, approached a gang of poachers by posing as buyers of ivory tusks in the black market. "we received accurate information that a gang involved in killing animals and selling tusks, horns and bones was operating in Tarikere area," Kantharaju said.
