Notices Served After Slaps, Hair Pulling At Madhya Pradesh Pro-CAA Rally

The Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh HC issued notices to the Chief Secretary, Rajgarh District Collector Nidhi Nivedita and other officials for allegedly slapping BJP workers during a pro-citizenship-law rally. Violence broke out at Sunday's rally in support of the citizenship-law after officials and local police clashed with protesters who were trying to take out a march for which permission had been denied.

Newly-elected BJP Mizoram unit president Vanlalhmuaka said people should thank God that the state has been exempted from the purview of the new citizenship law. Vanlalhmuaka also slammed state Congress-president Lal Thanhawla for claiming that the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act is more dangerous than the seven-headed beast mentioned in the Bible, saying the former chief minister must have misunderstood the features of the law.
Opposition Meet Tomorrow On Citizenship Law, NRC Amid Protests

The opposition parties would meet tomorrow afternoon to discuss the current political situation in the backdrop of the student protests and the contentious citizenship law and the citizenship list NRC. The meeting, expected to signal opposition unity, however, will not be attended by Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Bahujan Samajwadi Party chief Mayawati, sources said.
