Trinamool To Bring Anti-CAA Resolution In Bengal Assembly On January 27

A special session of the West Bengal Assembly has been summoned at 2 pm on January-27 to pass a resolution to scrap the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA. This will make Bengal the third state to do so after Kerala and Punjab. The formal announcement came 24 hours after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said such a resolution would be passed "within three-four days".
Case Against Women Who Staged Anti-Citizenship Protest In UP's Aligarh

The Uttar Pradesh Police on Saturday registered a case against scores of women for staging a protest in Aligarh against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and National Register of Citizen (NRC) when the prohibitory orders were in force in the district. According to the complaint, nearly 60-70 women raised slogans and staged a protest in Aligarh's civil lines area after Friday prayers.

Nobel laureate Amartya Sen on Monday called for unity in opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, or CAA, saying "if there is no unity, protests won't work". The comment came on a day when several big regional parties skipped a meeting of the opposition to discuss the law, the National Register of Citizens and the protests by students happening in several parts of the country.
