Clean Ganga Fund: NRIs, PIOs account for 0.1% of contributions

The establishment of Clean Ganga Fund (CGF) was done by the government of India on 21-January, 2015. It was intended, in the words of the government, "to harness the enthusiasm of NRIs and Persons of Indian Origins" to contribute to the cleaning and conservation of the Ganga. It also invited individual donors, the private sector and Public Sector Undertakings to contribute to this cause.
Ganga cleaning gigantic but doable: Jasper Wieck

The task of cleaning river Ganga, though gigantic, is doable and India can draw lessons from the three decade-long cleaning of river Rhine, said Jasper Wieck, Charge d'Affaires in German embassy here on Thursday. In 2016, India and Germany had signed an implementation agreement for Ganga Rejuvenation under the flagship Namami Gange Programme.
CSR projects under Namami Gange set to begin

The first-batch of major works under Namami Gange by corporates as part of Corporate-Social-Responsibility (CSR) are set to take off soon with companies such as Indorama-Industries, IndusInd-Bank and Yes-Bank spending on development on Ghats, cleaning of drains and plantation drives respectively. Apart from the projects getting executed through Central-funding, the government has also sought to rope in corporates and PSU to join in Ganga-cleaning.
