Coldest Place In UP Records 0.8 Degrees, Lucknow Shivers At 6.7 Degrees

Churk in Uttar Pradesh recorded a temperature of 0.8 degree Celsius as the state continued to reel under an intense cold wave on Monday, the weather office said. Muzaffarnagar recorded a minimum temperature of 1 degree Celsius, followed by Kanpur (1.6 degree Celsius), Agra (1.9 degrees Celsius), Jhansi (2.2 degrees Celsius), Varanasi (2.3 degrees Celsius) and Meerut (2.5 degrees Celsius).

Srinagar Witnesses Coldest Night Of Season, Shivers At Minus 6.2 Degrees

The fringes of the famous Dal Lake froze as the mercury continued its freefall in Srinagar which experienced the coldest night of the season at minus 6.2-degrees Celsius, MET Office said. The minimum temperature across the Kashmir Valley and Ladakh Union-Territory stayed several degrees below the freezing-point, intensifying the cold wave in some areas in the region, an official of the Meteorological Department said.

Rain, Cold Wave To Hit Northwest India Next Week: Weather Department

Widespread rainfall accompanied by cold wave-like conditions would engulf entire northwest India next week, IMD forecast on Friday said. "Two western disturbances in quick succession would be affecting northwest India during the next-one-week. The first would be quite intense and favourably located to cause severe weather across northwest India from January 19 to 22 with peak intensity on January 21," an IMD release said.
