Cotton, yarn, rajma trade with China comes to a halt

Cotton and yarn prices have fallen by 4% while rajma prices have increased by 8% in the past 10 days due to market uncertainty after the outbreak of coronavirus in China. Prices are expected to remain volatile in the short-term before a clear picture emerges, industry bodies and traders said. As per industry estimates, India annually imports 50% of its rajma requirement from China.
Export demand key for guar seed prices

Guar seed area in Rajasthan has been picking up in recent weeks due to good-rains in producing districts. Guar area increase by about 55.8% within a week to 22.6-lakh hectares (ha) as on first week of August from 14.5 lakh ha during the end of June as per data from the state-agriculture-department. The sudden increase in area has been keeping the prices under pressure.

In the two-breadbasket states of India, agricultural remnant has become a dominant-fuel for a string of biomass projects. Entrepreneurs, mostly well-heeled farmers, have set-up firms to collect stubbles from farms by employing modern equipment and deliver to power plants.
