Govt adds 5 lakh names to national sex offenders database

Names of over 5L sex offenders, who were convicted for crimes against women, have been added to a database which can been accessed by law enforcement agencies to help crack sex crimes across the country, officials said. The national registry of sex offenders, maintained by National Crime Records Bureau, has database of offenders convicted under charges of rape, gang rape, POCSO and eve teasing.
Canadian Woman Allegedly Molested By Staff In 5-Star Hotel Room In Mumbai

A 35-year-old Canadian woman was allegedly molested by an employee of a Mumbai-based five-star hotel during her stay there, a police official said. The Canadian national accused Sumit Rao, 32, of molesting her in her hotel room in Juhu on pretext of taking a selfie with her. She works for an event management firm and often visits India. The incident happened on January 5.
