UK watchdog fines Facebook 500,000 pounds for data breach scandal

Britain's Information Commissioner has slapped Facebook with a fine of 500,000 pounds the maximum possible for its behavior in Cambridge Analytica scandal. The ICO's investigation found that between 2007 to 2014, Facebook processed the personal information of users unfairly by giving app developers access to their information without informed consent. The fine was maximum allowed under the law at the time the breach occurred.

Data of Hundreds of Thousands of NEET Candidates Leaked Online

In another incident of data breach, around 2.4 lakh students' photos, phone numbers, and addresses, who took the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) in 2018, were put online for sale, according to a report. The now-suspended website offered the data to anyone willing to pay Rs 2 lakh. In 2017, 15 lakh students' data was put for sale for Rs 60,000.
