Flying Out From Delhi To Get Costlier, Passenger Service Fee Hiked

The passenger charge at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) will be raised from December 1, 2018. According to an order dated November 19 by Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA), the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the firm which manages and operates the facility will be able to charge a Passenger Service Fee at the rate of Rs. 77 per departing passenger.

With 63.5 million passengers in 2017-18 and expectation of numbers going-up to 110 million in coming-years, an investment of Rs.9,000 crore is likely to be made in Delhi airport over next few years. According to Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, an investment of Rs.9,000 crore is expected to be made in Delhi airport in the coming years as the airport operator looks to boost capacity.
