Delhi Auto-Rickshaw Fares To Be Hiked Soon

Taking an auto-rickshaw in Delhi to get expensive as the government-approved revised fares will be in place within a week after the model code of conduct for ongoing Lok Sabha polls ends, according to officials. The Delhi government had approved recommendations of a committee for a hike of Rs.1.5/kilometre on the existing rate of Rs.8/kilometre for close to 90,000 autos in the city.

Auto rickshaw fares in Delhi will increase by Rs.1.50-rupee/kilometer after Delhi Cabinet's approved recommendations for fare revision today. The existing auto-rickshaw fare in the city is Rs.8/kilometre which has been raised to Rs.9.50, an increase of 18.75%. The meter-down charge of Rs.25/two-kilometre has also been revised by the committee and set to Rs.25 for 1.5 kilometre, Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said.
