Delhi HC junks plea asking media to use martyr for reporting casualties in terror attacks

The Delhi HC dismissed a plea seeking directions to media to use the words "martyr" or "shaheed", instead of "killed", when reporting deaths of security personnel in terror or other attacks. A bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V K Rao declined to hear the application filed by a lawyer, who was pulled up by the court for moving such a plea.

Court Seeks Probe Agency's Reply On Deepak Talwar's Plea On Deportation

The Delhi High Court today sought a response from the Enforcement Directorate on a plea by alleged lobbyist Deepak Talwar challenging his detention by Indian agencies after he was deported from the UAE last week. A bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Sangita Dhingra Sehgal issued a notice to the ED and directed it to file a response to the petition by February 11.

Decide 1984 Riots Case Convict's Plea For Parole In 2 Weeks: High Court

The Delhi HC asked the AAP government to decide in two weeks the parole plea of Balwan Khokhar, who along with former Congress leader Sajjan Kumar was sentenced to life imprisonment in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case. Justice Najmi Waziri asked the Delhi government to treat former Congress councillor Balwan Khokhar's plea as a representation and to communicate its decision to him in two-weeks.
