Delhi's Air Quality Remains 'Very Poor', Overall Air Quality Index At 343

Delhi's air quality remained 'very poor' on Saturday even as authorities warned of a spike in pollution level from the next week when dense fog is expected to engulf the national capital. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recorded an overall AQI of 343. An AQI between 201 and 300 is considered 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor' and 401 and 500 is 'severe'.

Delhi's air quality remained 'very poor' due to slow wind speed and high humidity, authorities said. According to the Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting (SAFAR), the overall AQI was recorded at 326, which comes under 'very poor' category. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data said 20 areas in Delhi recorded 'very poor' air quality and 13 recorded 'poor' air quality.

Delhi Air Quality Remains Severe; Mundka, Punjabi Bagh Most Polluted

The air quality in Delhi remained severe despite measures like extension of the ban on entry of trucks, construction and polluting industries. Mundka in West Delhi was most polluted area in the city, recording PM 10 concentration of 726 per cubic metre of air. Mundka was followed by Wazirpur, Anand Vihar and Punjabi Bagh with 708, 611 and 449 till 8:00 AM, respectively.
