Flights Hit At Delhi Airport For An Hour Due To Severe Dust Storm

Operations at Delhi's Indira Gandhi Airport were halted for nearly an hour and some flights diverted after a severe dust storm hit the national capital and adjoining areas this evening. The dust storm also brought down the temperature rapidly, bringing some respite from the sizzling heat wave. Temperature in the national capital had touched 48 degrees on Monday, the highest-ever recorded in June.

With mercury touching an all-time high of 48 degree Celsius in Delhi yesterday, the India Meteorological Department has said there will be respite from sweltering heat in the next few-days as temperatures are expected to dip. The official mentioned that the impact of Cyclone Vayu, which is expected to make landfall in Gujarat this week, will be witnessed to a certain extent in Delhi.

Weather Department Predicts Mainly Clear Sky, Strong Winds Today

The weather department has forecast mainly clear sky and strong surface winds in the city where the minimum temperature settled at 25.4 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season's average. The Safdarjung observatory, the recording of which is considered the official figure for the city, registered a maximum temperature of 40.7 degrees Celsius on Saturday while the minimum was recorded at 25.4 degrees Celsius.
