Government not looking at any other proposal for PSB merger

The government is not considering any other merger proposal in public sector banks at the moment as it would wait for completion of the amalgamation of Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank with Bank of Baroda (BoB), official sources said. The Union Cabinet last month approved the merger of these three-banks to create the country's third-largest lender. The scheme would come into force on April-1.
Bank strike on Wednesday, services to be affected

Services of state-owned banks are expected to be impacted Wednesday due to a-nation-wide strike call given by unions to protest against proposed amalgamation of Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank with Bank of Baroda. This will be second-bank strike in less-than-a-week. Last Friday, an officers' union of state-run banks observed a-day-long strike to protest against the merger and also demanded immediate settlement of wage negotiations.
Dena Bank Board Clears Merger Proposal With Bank Of Baroda

State-run Dena Bank's board cleared a proposal suggesting a merger with two other state-run banks, Vijaya Bank and Bank of Baroda. The government had last week suggested a merger of the three banks to create the country's second largest state-run bank, after SBI. If the merger takes place, the number of government-run banks will be reduced to 19.
