DGCA starts audit of examiners

The aviation regulator has started reviewing the examiners who conduct audits on airlines to make the system foolproof. "We need to conduct an audit to ensure these people do justice to their positions. The audit is to check efficiency of the system and also rectify any flaw in the system," a top official at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said.

2 SpiceJet pilots suspended for forgetting to turn on cabin pressure switch

Two SpiceJet pilots have been barred from flying for four months after they forgot to activate a switch to ensure cabin pressure on a flight from earlier this year. Aviation regulator the Directorate General of Civil Aviation suspended the licences of the two SpiceJet pilots after determining that they "forgot" to turn their plane's 'bleed switch' to the 'ON' position.

DGCA examining introduction of multi-crew pilot license system

Aviation watchdog DGCA is looking at the option of introducing a new pilots training programme that will focus more on competitive assessment rather than just fixed flying hours. The introduction of Multi-Crew Pilot License (MPL) programme which is in place in many European countries could be an alternate mode that would be more efficient and quicker, a senior DGCA official said.
