DMK "Confusing" Public On National Population Register: K Palaniswami

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami on Saturday flayed DMK and its alliance partners for trying to confuse people on the National Population Register and said it was only a census and not to be bracketed with National Register of Citizens. He recalled that that the census exercise was last done in 2011 during the UPA regime when Manmohan Singh was Prime Minister.

After Tamil Nadu's ruling AIADMK, it is now its principal opposition party DMK that is planning to bring Prashant Kishor onboard. Prashant Kishor is currently working with Trinamool Congress in West Bengal. "The DMK is holding talks with Prashant Kishor," a source told news agency IANS on condition of anonymity. Prashant Kishor was not available for comment.

Against the backdrop of recent pitch by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to make Hindi a language of India's identity, DMK has argued that Tamil was more suited for it. Amit Shah had on September 14 advocated greater use of Hindi, saying "it is very essential that the entire country has one language which becomes its identity in the world".
