Drunk autorickshaw driver fined Rs 47,500 in Odisha

A drunk autorickshaw driver was fined Rs 47,500 by the transport department on Wednesday for driving without a valid permit, licence, registration and under various sections of the amended Motor Vehicles Act which came into effect on Sunday, an official said. The autorickshaw driver has been asked to deposit the total fine of Rs.47,500 at the Driving Testing Centre in Chandrasekharpur, the official said.
33,000 people held in Delhi this year for drunk driving

As many as 33,000 people were caught driving in an inebriated state on Delhi's roads this year, around 27% higher than last-year, data from Delhi traffic police shows. Data shows that an upward trend of drink driving cases has been observed in the last few-years. In 2017, a total of 26,008 fines were issued, while the year before it the prosecutions settled at 23,393.
