ULFA-I cadre held in Assam, explosives seized

A self-styled 'sergeant' of the proscribed ULFA(I) was apprehended in upper Assam's Tinsukia district on Tuesday and explosives were recovered from his possession, police said. Based on specific input about the banned United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent (ULFA-I) targeting security forces and vital installations during the current festive season, a joint operation by the Assam Police, CRPF and the Army was launched, they said.
Maharashtra: Huge cache of explosives seized in Nashik, one held

A huge cache of explosives,including over 2,000 gelatin-sticks and number-of-detonators, was seized from a van in Nashik district of Maharashtra, police. The vehicle driver was arrested for allegedly carrying the explosives illegally, Jaykheda police-station's assistant police inspector Ganesh Gurav said. The police intercepted van at Chichali ghat near Mulher village on Sunday while it was on way to Gujarat from Maharashtra, he said.
