Twitter steps up fight against fake accounts

To further protect the integrity of elections, Twitter on Tuesday said it will now delete fake accounts engaged in a variety of emergent, malicious behaviours. As platform manipulation tactics continue to evolve, the micro-blogging platform said it is expanding rules to better reflect how it identifies fake accounts and what types of inauthentic activity violate its guidelines before the US mid-term elections in November.
Fake Video Of Amarinder Singh Goes Viral, Case Registered

Punjab Police's cyber cell on Saturday, registered a case after a fake video of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh went viral on social media, a spokesperson said. "Preliminary inquiry into the case has revealed that the "malicious" video was uploaded and "doctored" by an unknown person with the username "Harsh Sofat" (@harshsofat9) on a web-based application", he said.
Twitter suspends fake Warren Buffett account

Microblogging site Twitter has suspended the handle @warrenbuffet99 for impersonating Warren Buffett, the world's third richest person. The account's first tweet addressed to 'all the young people' stating tips like 'read and write more' and 'stay teachable' went viral with almost 3,00,000 likes. One of the tweets from the fake account was even shared by American rapper Kanye West.
