15 fishermen dead, two missing after Gujarat boats capsize

At least 15 fishermen died and two went missing after their boats capsized in the sea off Dwarka and Porbandar coasts, said police. Their boats are believed to have capsized during the weekend and the bodies started washing ashore at different locations on Monday. Dwarka police said six boats and 24 fishermen from Rupen port had left for fishing last Friday, despite two-month ban.

Pak: 12 Indian fishermen sent to jail in Karachi

Twelve Indian fishermen have been sent to jail in Karachi, days after being arrested by Pakistani authorities for allegedly fishing illegally in the country’s territorial waters in the Arabian Sea. The 12 fishermen who were arrested by the Pakistan Maritime Security Force and their boat seized on Thursday were presented before a judicial magistrate by the Docks police on Friday.

Kerala Asks Fishermen To Avoid Sea Amid Cyclone Fears

The Kerala government has told fishermen not to venture into the sea after October 5 following warning of a cyclone by India Meterological Department, CM Pinarayi Vijayan said. The government is making arrangements to inform people in the coastal areas of the state, he said. District authorities have been asked to be ready for any eventuality as landslides can be expected, said Mr Vijayan.
