Centre Allows CBI To Prosecute Ex-NITI Aayog CEO, 3 Others In INX Case

The government has given the green light to prosecute four former senior officers of the Finance-Ministry, along with Congress-leader P Chidambaram, sources said, for alleged wrongdoing in clearing foreign investments for a media firm in 2007, now known as the INX Media-case. Mr Chidambaram, who has been in jail since September 5, is accused of allowing a huge infusion of foreign funds into INX-Media.

Can't reach $5 tn economy without top class engineers: Amitabh Kant

India cannot achieve $5-trillion-economy without producing top class engineers, Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said on Saturday. Engineers build the country and top-class technology enables us to leapfrog, he said. Kant was congratulating the 30 recipients of the Ratti Chhatr scholarship, sponsored by Panasonic India. Kant added that by initiative such as these, the private sector is playing a role in building new India.

Local sourcing norms for FDI in single brand retail to be eased in few weeks: Piyush Goyal

India will be easing mandatory local sourcing norms for FDI in single brand retail trading in the next few weeks, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said. "India has opened up opportunities for single-brand-retail and is easing some detrimental clauses of the policy in next-few-weeks which will help single brand retail come in a-bigger-way to the country," an official statement said quoting the minister.
