
Tigress Avni, blamed for 13 deaths, shot dead in Maharashtra

The elusive tigress Avni or T1, who was being hunted for killing and devouring 13 humans in the Pandharkawada- Ralegaon forests of Yavatmal district in eastern Maharashtra over the last two years, was shot dead last night. The forest department said that it will be sharing the details of the operation at a press conference in Nagpur today.

With 500 saplings, a 'green' dream blooms in Ahmedabad

Trees are essentially nature's gift to mankind. Realising this, Ahmedabad-Forest-Department, an NGO, and some volunteers have begun a process to convert a barren land of around one lakh square-metre into a green belt. About 500 tree saplings will be planted in this space, starting this Sunday. To combat pollution and deforestation, the forest department and some volunteers have initiated the process of tree plantation.

Woman killed by wild bison; state health minister blames forest dept

A woman died after she was gored by a wild bison inside the Mahadeyi Wildlife Sanctuary in Sattari in North-Goa-district, a police official said. "Pujan Melekar (22) was attacked by a wild bison when she was riding pillion through the Mahadeyi Wildlife Sanctuary on her way to work at a round 7am. Her younger brother, who was riding the two-wheeler, was also injured.
