Unique new species of pit viper, with heat-sensing system found in Arunachal Pradesh

A new species of snake has been found in Arunachal Pradesh's West Kameng district, an official said on Friday. The new species of reddish brown pit viper a venomous snake with a unique heat sensing system was found in a forest in West Kameng district by a team of herpetologists led by Ashok Captain, the Forest department official said.
Tigress Avni, blamed for 13 deaths, shot dead in Maharashtra

The elusive tigress Avni or T1, who was being hunted for killing and devouring 13 humans in the Pandharkawada- Ralegaon forests of Yavatmal district in eastern Maharashtra over the last two years, was shot dead last night. The forest department said that it will be sharing the details of the operation at a press conference in Nagpur today.
With 500 saplings, a 'green' dream blooms in Ahmedabad

Trees are essentially nature's gift to mankind. Realising this, Ahmedabad-Forest-Department, an NGO, and some volunteers have begun a process to convert a barren land of around one lakh square-metre into a green belt. About 500 tree saplings will be planted in this space, starting this Sunday. To combat pollution and deforestation, the forest department and some volunteers have initiated the process of tree plantation.
