FSSAI comes up with new labelling regulations

Makers of chips, soups, biscuits, juices and other packaged foods will soon have to display red colour coding on the front of packets of products that have high-levels of fat, sugar or salt-content as per the regulator's new draft of labelling regulations. The food industry has expressed its concerns over the draft of the proposed changes in labelling rules drawn up by the FSSAI.

FSSAI Bans Use Of Staple Pins In Tea Bags From June 30

Food regulator FSSAI issued a notification seeking a ban on the use of pins in tea bags by the food business operators (FBOs) by June 30. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has asked the FBOs to discontinue manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import of stapled tea bags by June 30.

9.9% Milk Samples Unsafe For Consumption, Says Government

A nationwide survey on milk adulteration by the FSSAI found 39% of milk samples to be non-compliant with reference to quality parameters while 9.9% were found to be unsafe for consumption, the government told Parliament. The National Milk Safety and Quality Survey 2018 broadly suggests that milk in India is largely safe, said Minister of State for Health Ashwini Kumar Choubey.
