Chief Justice Recuses Himself From Hearing Plea Filed By Gautam Navlakha

Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi on Monday recused himself from hearing a plea filed by civil rights activist Gautam Navlakha challenging the Bombay High Court order refusing to quash the FIR lodged against him in the Koregaon-Bhima violence case. "List the matter before a bench in which I am not the party", the Chief Justice said.

Centre to states: Track NGOs for anti-national activities

Following a crackdown on NGOs over alleged violations of norms related to foreign funding, the Centre has written to state governments and union territories to monitor the activities of such organisations that indulge in anti-national activities. The communication sent by Daniel E Richards, Joint Secretary, Home Ministry, reads: It has come to notice that some NGOs and organisations are involved in anti-national activities

Maoist links: Pune court rejects bail pleas of three activists

A court in Pune Friday rejected the bail applications of activists Sudha Bharadwaj, Vernon Gonsalves, Arun Ferreira, who were arrested for their alleged Maoist-links. The Pune-Police had arrested these three-activists along with two-others poet P Varavara Rao and Gautam Navlakha on August-28 in connection with the Elgar Parishad conclave held in Pune on December-31, which allegedlytriggered violence at Koregaon Bhima the next day.
