Goans To Be Banned At Casinos From February 1: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant

Goans will be banned from entering casinos in the state from February 1, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Thursday. Speaking to reporters in Panaji, Mr Sawant also said the state Sales Tax commissioner would be appointed as a Gaming Commission to formulate rules and regulate the casino industry. The Sales Tax Commission will be appointed as the Gaming Commission on February 1.

Speaker of the Goa Legislative-Assembly Rajesh Patnekar today said the reshuffle of the state cabinet will have no bearing on the schedule of the monsoon session of the state legislature, which will commence from Monday. Days after 10 Congress-legislators in Goa joined the BJP, CM Pramod Sawant will reshuffle his cabinet today, dropping three members of ally GFP and an Independent legislator as ministers.

The 10 Congress lawmakers move of merging with the ruling BJP in Goa Wednesday triggered speculations that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant may drop some coalition members from his cabinet. However, GFP president and Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai said his party was not related to the development and he has not been told about the implications of the Congress lawmakers move on his party.
