Goa Government Files Review Petition In Supreme Court Against Mining Ban

The Goa government filed a review petition in the SC against its 2018 judgement imposing a ban on iron ore mining activity in the coastal state, CM Pramod Sawant said. In a tweet, Mr Sawant informed about filing of the review petition challenging the top court's order dated February-7, 2018, that quashed second renewals granted to 88 iron ore mining leases in the state.
Goa Approves Amendment Allowing Women In Industries To Work Night Shifts

The Goa cabinet approved an amendment to the Factories-Act which will allow industries to employ women for night-shifts. Deputy CM Vijai Sardesai said amendment-bill would be tabled in the upcoming-monsoon-session of the Legislative-Assembly. Once the amendment is passed by the House, women will be able to work from 7-pm to 6-am only if an employer takes prior approval of Chief-Inspector of Factories and Boilers.
Goa Governor Summons Assembly Session On June 4

Mridula Sinha, the Governor of Goa, has summoned Assembly-Session on Tuesday, June-4. The special session of the Legislative Assembly will be meeting in the assembly hall at 11.30 am. According to reports, new-speaker of Goa-Assembly could be elected in the special session. The post of Assembly-Speaker has been lying vacant since Pramod Sawant left the post to take charge as the state chief minister.
