Centre, states apportion Rs 33,000 crore IGST in November

As much as Rs 33,000 crore lying in the IGST pool has been apportioned between the centre and states in November. The states' share would be over Rs 16,000 crore, the official said. The apportionment would add to the GST revenue of both the centre and states for November. The total revenue collection figures for the month would be released on Saturday.

Half-day strike in Leh over GST raids

GST raids on three-hotels in Leh resulted in a half-day shutdown on Sunday as a protest. Shops and business establishments were closed, and traders and hoteliers threatened to intensify their agitation if the "harassment is not stopped". "Our talks were on with the GST council and finance minister. And without giving any notice, they raided our hotels. This is harassment" said PT Kunzang.

Nitin Gadkari assures GST relief for cruise sector

Union-Minister for Transport and Shipping Nitin-Gadkari said that cruise tourism will soon get relief in terms of GST for which there is a lot of ambiguity and is being charged at around 18% in many-cases. Speaking at the Global-Cruise-Conclave, organised by India Cruise Lines Association, Gadkari said the shipping ministry has already sought GST cut, and the GST-council is expected to take a decision.
