Google ban fails to stamp out short-term payday lending apps

In August, Google announced a global crackdown on Android apps that offer short-term loans, saying it wanted to protect consumers from what it called "deceptive and exploitative" terms. But five months later, payday-style applications offering fast-money for one or two-weeks are still easy to find in many countries on Google-Play, the company's marketplace for Android-apps. Some charge interest rates that can exceed 200% annualized.

Twitter has had a-busy-year quashing some annoying-bugs. From dropping notifications every-time someone unfollowed a user to mislabelled retweets, Twitter users have seen it all. But as the year comes to an end, social-networking-giant may have one more issue to deal with. A security researcher claims he was able to match 17 million phone-numbers to actual Twitter-accounts, exposing a flaw in Twitter's Android mobile app.
TikTok Still Unavailable in India via App Store, Google Play

TikTok remained unavailable for download on both Google Play Store and Apple's App Store on Friday two days after the Madras High Court's Madurai Bench lifted the ban on the short video-sharing app. Sources in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said that official communication to the technology companies would be made after it receives the court directive.
