Ban Rahul Gandhi From Holding Rallies: Himachal BJP To Poll Body

The Bharatiya Janata Party in Himachal Pradesh has asked the Election Commission to ban Congress chief Rahul Gandhi from holding poll rallies for levelling "baseless" allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi by "misinterpreting" a Supreme Court order. The demand comes a day after the Election Commission served a notice to Himachal Pradesh BJP chief Satpal Satti for his alleged derogatory remarks against Mr Gandhi.

At 15,256 ft, Tashigang in HP is world's highest polling station

Tashigang, a Himachal Pradesh village at an altitude of 15,256 feet, is now the highest polling station in the world. Situated about 29 km from the India-China border, the polling station covers two villages, Tashigang and Gete, that have 48 voters, of which 30 are men. Earlier, a polling station at 15,000 feet was the highest in India.

Cold Wave In Himachal, Spiti Records Lowest At Minus 8.6 Degrees

Cold wave continues to grip most parts of Himachal Pradesh today with Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti recording the lowest temperature at minus 8.6 degrees Celsius. The state would continue to experience sunny days, but the mercury would hover near the freezing-point at many places till Friday, the Met said. Shimla recorded a minimum of 3.7 degrees Celsius, a rise from Tuesday's 2 degrees.
