Madras HC Orders Autopsy of HIV-infected Teenager to be Videographed

The Madras High Court has ordered that the autopsy of the HIV+ teenager, who allegedly committed suicide after learning his blood was mistakenly transfused to a pregnant woman, be recorded on video. The court remarked that it's a special case. The order came based on a petition by the 19-year-old's mother, who raised doubts over the treatment given to him.

People with HIV infection can now look for a marriage partner on a web portal specially designed for them. The portal, matrimonial.gsnpplus.org was launched today at IIM-A to address the confidentiality concerns of people infected by HIV. The platform has been created by Gujarat State Network of Positive People (GSNP+), an NGO, with the technical support of IIM-A's Center for Management of Health Services.

An HIV positive man in Odisha committed suicide by hanging himself after he was allegedly denied treatment by government hospitals, police said. The man was supposed to undergo a surgery for his fractured hand but on learning he's HIV positive, the doctors started referring him to different hospitals without treating his hand. He was reportedly humiliated by fellow villagers too.
