Encouraged by the Supreme Court's verdict of decriminalising homosexuality, India's first transgender bureaucrat, Aishwarya Rituparna Pradhan, wishes to get married to her long-time boyfriend. Rituparna, who has been in a live-in relationship with her boyfriend for last 2 years, said that she had put off the decision only due to Section 377. Now that the verdict is out, she'd like to go ahead.

Supreme Court to hear pleas on homosexuality from today

The Supreme Court will today commence crucial hearing on a clutch of pleas challenging against Section 377 of the IPC which criminalises consensual gay sex between two adults. The apex court had on Monday rejected the Centre's plea seeking postponement of the proceedings. A newly re-constituted five-judge Constitution bench will hear the petitions challenging criminalisation of homsexual sex between two consenting adults.
