
Gold imports dip 5% during April-January to $26.93 billion

The country's gold imports dipped about 5% in value terms to USD 26.93 billion during April-January 2018-19, which is expected to keep a lid on current account deficit. According to commerce ministry data, total imports of precious metal in corresponding period of 2017-18 stood at USD 28.23 billion. In volume terms, country's total gold imports increased by 22.43% to 955.16 tonnes in 2017-18.

Twitter retains old messages even after they are deleted: Report

Micro-blogging site Twitter has reportedly been retaining messages shared on its platform including deleted messages along with data shared and received from accounts that have been suspended or deactivated, the media reported. "Security researcher Karan Saini found years-old messages in a file from a data archive obtained through the website from accounts that were no longer on Twitter," TechCrunch reported on Saturday.

Rajinikanth will not contest 2019 Lok Sabha elections

Actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth, ending months of speculation and suspense, on Sunday declared that he would not contest the upcoming general elections or support anyone. In a statement, he said, "I'm not going to contest in Lok Sabha elections. Our target is assembly elections. My support is not for any party. Hence no party should use my photo or my outfit's logo in campaign."
