40-yr-old man dies of hunger in Jharkhand, death due to 'illness'

The wife of a 40-year-old tribal man, who did not have a ration card, has claimed that her husband had died of hunger in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district. Rajendra Birhor, belonging to the primitive Birhor tribe, died on Thursday at Nawadih village in Mandu block, 20 km from Ramgarh. However, district officials denied it, saying his death was due to "illness".

In developing countries around the world especially in Asia, secondhand smoke causes thousands of still births every year. Exposure to secondhand smoke during pregnancy increases the risk of still birth, congenital malformations, low birth-weight and respiratory illnesses. In a recent study, researchers found that 40% of all pregnant women in Pakistan are exposed to secondhand smoke - causing approximately 17,000 stillbirths in a year.
