Cyclone Gaja to intensify again, likely to hit Lakshadweep

After Cyclone Gaja made landfall in TN and killed at least 36 people, the IMD on Sunday said it will re-intensify into a cyclonic storm and is likely to hit the Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area in the next 12 hours. The weather department also said that "extremely heavy" rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over Lakshadweep in the next 24 hours.

Heavy to very rainfall in large parts of India this week: IMD

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in large parts of India, including several places in Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Gujarat, over the next few days till Friday, the India Meteorological Department said today. The warning comes after the IMD said last week that the monsoon had covered the entire country, 17 days ahead of its normal onset date.

Rain, thunderstorm to hit western UP during next two hours

Thunderstorm and rain accompanied with a dust storm are likely to occur during next two hours in several areas of Western Uttar Pradesh on Monday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said. As per the IMD, the monsoon is hovering over Maharashtra in the west and parts of Odisha, West Bengal and Assam in the east and northeast India.
