Navy's MiG-29K Aircraft Crashes Off Goa During Training, Pilot Safe

An Indian Navy aircraft MiG-29K on a routine training sortie crashed near Goa this morning. The pilot of the aircraft managed to eject safely. A probe has been ordered into the incident, according to an official statement. The pilots Captain M Sheokhand and Lieutenant Commander Deepak Yadav had also managed to eject safely. The Goa airport is used for both civilian and military aircraft.

The Chinese Navy's presence is rapidly increasing in the Indian-Ocean-region and the Indian-Navy is keeping a watch over the developments through "mission-based" deployments, Navy-Chief Admiral Karambir Singh said. The Navy-chief asserted that China's Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Pakistan Economic-Corridor-impinge on India's sovereignty. Djibouti is a reality, Gwadar is on and more places are to come, he said, speaking on China's growing presence.
Chief Of Defence Staff's Age Limit Fixed At 65 Years

After approving the creation of the CDS, the government today amended rules, putting a cap on the age limit for the post to 65 years, according to a notification released by the Defence-Ministry. The Chief of Defence-Staff will serve as the single-point of contact for the different branches of the armed forces and will also be the Principal-Military-Adviser to the Defence-Minister on tri-service matters.
