Navy-Chief Admiral-Karambir-Singh cited intelligence-reports to claim that terrorist-group JeM is training its members to carry-out underwater-attacks, but assured that his force is fully-prepared to face any such eventuality. "We have received intelligence that underwater wing of Jaish-e-Mohammed is being trained for attacks. We are keeping track of it and can give an assurance that we are fully-alert to foil any such design," news-agency added.
France to send aircraft carrier to Indian Ocean next year

France said Friday it would send its aircraft carrier to the Indian Ocean next year, to defend freedom of navigation at a time of growing Chinese assertiveness in disputed waters. The Charles de Gaulle, currently in the southern French port of Toulon undergoing renovation, should be ready to sail to the Indian Ocean early next year, Defence Minister Florence Parly said.

India along with 23 other nations, would be participating in a major Indian ocean-wide tsunami mock exercise (drill) on September four and five, which would involve evacuation of thousands of people from coastal areas in over half a dozen states. The exercise, known as IOWave18, is being organised by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO.
