New airport in Greater Noida's Jewar to miss takeoff date

The maddening rush of passengers at IGIA may take longer to ease as plans for a second such facility in Delhi-NCR have run into serious land acquisition troubles. The proposed international airport at Greater Noida's Jewar is "impossible" to meet its 2022 completion deadline, top officials have indicated to Mail Today. The Rs.6,700-crore project needs 5,000 hectares of land earmarked along the Yamuna Expressway.
UP Government Approves Rs 1,260 Crore For Jewar Airport Land Acquisition

The Uttar Pradesh government has approved a fund of Rs. 1,260 crore for acquisition of land for the proposed Jewar airport in Gautam Buddh Nagar, according to an official document. The amount, released for acquisition in the first phase of airport construction, is to be spent for land acquisition and payment to the farmers concerned, the letter stated.
