"No Question Of Backtracking": BS Yediyurappa On Making Rebels Ministers

Celebrating the BJP's good performance in the bypolls in Karnataka, CM BS Yediyurappa said he would ensure a stable and pro-development government for the next three-and-half years the remainder of his term. The BJP fielded 13 disqualified MLAs in the by-election held on December-5 in 15-constituencies. The party is leading in 12 seats, the Congress in two seats and an independent in one seat.

Karnataka By-Polls: 32.51 Per Cent Voter Turnout Recorded Till 1pm

In the by-elections for 15 out of 17 assembly seats in Karnataka, about 32.51 per cent of voter turnout was recorded till 1pm, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI). Athani recorded 40.89 per cent voting, Kagawad 37.72 per cent, Gokak 37.72 per cent, Yellapur 41.72 per cent, Hirekerur 38.63 per cent, and Ranebennur 36.09 per cent.

Karnataka bypolls: BJP expels 2 rebel MLAs for anti-party activities

The ruling BJP expelled two rebel members from the party for contesting in the December 5 Assembly bypolls from two constituencies defying its directive, a party official said on Friday. Defectors MTB Nagaraj and Anand Singh were the party's official candidates in Hoskote and Vijayanagara from where they had won on the Congress ticket in May 2018 Assembly elections in the southern state.
