Road, air connectivity crippled by heavy snowfall in Kashmir

Kashmir valley was cut off from the rest of the country due to heavy snowfall disrupting both surface and aerial connectivity in the Valley. It was predicted already as the weather system was moving towards this region, a MeT official said. The snowfall, which began after noon on Friday and continued till Saturday morning was one of the heaviest in recent years in Kashmir.
At least 413 killed in 2018 due to violence in Kashmir

In what turned out to be one of the bloodiest year in a decade in Kashmir, at least 413-people were killed due to violence since January of this year. More than half of those who died are militants, as per data available with security-agencies. In 2008, 550-deaths were reported in Kashmir Valley due to violence, while in 2012, the number was decreased by 99.
