Kolkata Flights Suspended From 6 pm To 6 am As Cyclone Bulbul Closes In

Flight operations at Kolkata airport have been stopped from 6 pm today till 6 am tomorrow, or for 12 hours, over safety concerns due to Cyclone Bulbul, Home Ministry officials have said. The move is likely to affect the travel plans of hundreds of air passengers at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport. Cyclone Bulbul made landfall at 9 pm in West Bengal.

Normal Services Restored At Kolkata Airport After 9 Hours: Official

A day after scores of passengers were inconvenienced at the Kolkata airport due to technical glitches in the check-in system, a senior official said it took the authorities nine hours to restore normal services. "The system, which slowed down and conked off around 5.15pm yesterday (Monday), was up and running by 2.30am," Airport Director Kaushik Bhattacharjee said Tuesday.

Cyclone Fani: Bhubaneswar Airport Closes At Midnight, Kolkata Tomorrow

No flights will take off or land from Kolkata's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport from 9.30 pm today till 6 pm on Saturday as Cyclone Fani is expected to make landfall in the morning. All flights from Odisha capital Bhubaneswar have already been cancelled from midnight tonight as the "extremely severe cyclone" nears the state's coast, south of temple town Puri.
