
Advantage BJP As 14 Karnataka Rebels Disqualified Day Before Trust Vote

Eleven rebel lawmakers of the Congress and three from HD Kumaraswamy's Janata Dal Secular were disqualified by Karnataka Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar on Sunday. The move brings down the majority mark in the assembly within the reach of the newly formed BJP government, which is expected to face a trust vote in the state assembly today. On Thursday, the Speaker had disqualified three lawmakers.

The BJPLP put-off its meeting to elect its leader following instructions from the party's national leadership to wait for further instructions on the government formation. The information doused the enthusiasm in the BJP camp, especially among the followers of State BJP chief BS Yeddyurappa, who had jumped into a celebration soon after the JD(S)-Congress regime fell on Tuesday-night, and were seen showing victory signs.
