Jailed Lalu Prasad Yadav re-elected RJD chief

Incarcerated Lalu-Prasad was on December-3 re-elected as the national president of his Rashtriya Janata Dal for the 11th-consecutive-term, though the charismatic-leader remained conspicuous by his absence on the occasion. Prasad, who had founded the party in 1997, is at Ranchi serving sentences in fodder scam-cases and his nomination papers were submitted at the RJD state-headquarters by his sons Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav.

Lalu Prasad Yadav was re-elected unopposed as the RJD Chief on Tuesday. He has been elected as the party's president for the 11th time. After being convicted in the multi-crore fodder scam cases, Yadav was sent to the Birsa Munda Central Jail on December 23, 2017. He has been getting treatment at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi since August 2018.
Lalu Prasad Yadav's health deteriorates, kidney function dips further

The condition of jailed RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav is not stable as his kidney function has further dipped to a critical level. Hospital sources said the kidney function has dipped from earlier 50% to 37%, sending alarm bells ringing in the RJD camp. Lalu Prasad's blood sugar and blood pressure levels are also fluctuating, a senior doctor said on Saturday.
