Language, banking system impeding trade with central Asia: Goyal

Language barriers, weak banking system and poor connectivity are some of the key factors impeding higher level of trade with Central Asian countries, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said in Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Goyal said efforts are being made to boost trade by resolving various trade related matters through existing institutional mechanisms between India and Central Asian countries.
No One In North Is Learning Malayalam Or Tamil: Shashi Tharoor

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor today said the solution to the three-language formula is not by abandoning the idea but ensure its better implementation. "Most of us in the South learn Hindi as a second language but nobody in the North is learning Malayalam or Tamil," he said. Mr Tharoor said that the three-language formula goes back to mid-1960s but it was never properly implemented.
Ayodhya Case: 11,500 Pages To Be Translated Into English, SC Told

Nearly 11,500 documents in Ayodhya land dispute matter need to be translated in English from 16 languages for the case to be ready for hearing a task that would take around 120 days and involve eight official translators, the Supreme Court was informed. The 16 different languages from which the documents are to be translated include Hindi, Punjabi (Gurumukhi), Urdu, Persian and Arabic.
