Shashi Tharoor moves bill to regulate online gaming

Senior Congress leader and member-of-parliament from Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor, introduced a-private-member's bill in LS, lower house of parliament, seeking a regulatory mechanism for largely unorganised online gaming sector, which has seen the entry of many new-players in the last two-years. He said the country needs a regulatory body, like the one he has proposed, in his Sports (Online Gaming and Prevention of Fraud) Bill.
Panel to study personal laws for third gender

The Law Commission has decided to examine the issue of personal laws for transgenders. Although the SC has recognised the right to selfidentification of gender as a part of right to dignity and autonomy under Article 21 of the Constitution, there has been no legal clarity on the personal laws of transgenders. Personal laws cover matters such as property, inheritance, succession, marriage and divorce.
Bring BCCI under RTI ambit: Law Commission

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) should be brought under the ambit of the information law, the Law Commission said today. It said non-consideration of the role played by the BCCI as monopolistic in the regulation of the game of cricket has resulted in the board flying under the radar of public scrutiny, encouraged an environment of opacity and non-accountability.
