Meghalaya Cop Booked For Allegedly Sexually Harassing Lawyer: Police

The Meghalaya police have registered a case against its Sub-Inspector Habanjob Khonglah, who is accused of sexually harassing a lawyer, a police officer said on Tuesday. However, the police are yet to arrest the accused. On Monday, a woman lodged a complaint against the official at the Khliehriat women police station in East Jaintia Hills district accusing him of sexually abusing her.

Key witnesses aren't coming forward to record statements in the sexual harassment case filed by Tanushree Dutta against Nana Patekar due to fear of the accused, Tanushree's lawyer said. "Police have recorded statements of almost 15 witnesses, but key eyewitnesses...have not recorded," her lawyer added. He further stated they will feel safe to come forward once the accused are arrested.
