2002 Godhra train burning case: Life imprisonment for convict Yakub

An Ahmedabad SIT Court today sentenced convict Yakub Pataliya to life imprisonment in the 2002 Godhra train burning case. Pataliya, who was arrested in 2018 in Godhra, was part of the mob that torched coach S-6 of Sabarmati Express on February 27, 2002. The incident led to the deaths of 59 people, mostly kar sevaks, and triggered riots in Gujarat.
Two brothers get life imprisonment for throwing acid on girl

A Nawada court Friday sentenced two brothers to life imprisonment for throwing acid on a girl. Mohammad-Amir-Hasan and Mohammad-Ahsan-Alam were held guilty of the crime by Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADJ) Kaushalesh Kumar. The court also slapped a fine of Rs.3,20,000 on both of them, Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Anil Kumar said adding, that Rs.3,20,000 will be paid to the victim’s family.
